A specific module for work-based learning
SELFIE for work-based learning (WBL) is a free online tool for Vocational Education and Training (VET) schools and companies. It supports them in making the most of digital technologies for teaching, learning and training.
SELFIE WBL helps schools and companies become fit for the digital age. It is a specific part of the SELFIE tool, adapted to match the requirements of work-based learning.
In this way, it supports the digital transition, one of the key policy priorities of the European Commission.

Background and development
SELFIE WBL was launched during the second edition of the October 2021 SELFIE Forum.
The project began in 2018 with a feasibility study, which showed positive results. Development followed in January 2020, with a process involving stakeholders and end users to make sure that the tool would match the real needs of VET schools and employers.
Workshops and testing were also a key part of development. The SELFIE development team ran an international expert workshop in June 2020 and a testing phase in nine European countries between September and December 2020.
In total, some 35,000 participants from around 150 VET schools and 250 companies in France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Georgia, Montenegro, Republic of Serbia and Turkey were involved in the piloting. Results of these pilots are available for download.
The European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EfVET) and European Training Foundation (ETF) gave invaluable support throughout.
