European Students' Union

A student union is a university-based organisation that represents students’ interests, fosters engagement, and offers services and activities to enhance the college experience.

In most cases, there is a student association for each university level. The student organisations from one country unite under the same umbrella through national student unions.

The European Students' Union (ESU) is the umbrella organisation that represents national student unions from 40 countries, including Europe.

Erasmus Student Network

The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is a student-led organisation that supports and enhances the mobility experience of international students It fosters cultural exchange and provides various services to help students integrate into their host universities and communities.

Why should you join a student union?

Joining a student union can provide a platform for personal growth, skill development, networking, and active engagement. It will also give you the opportunity to make friends and have a say in decisions affecting your education.

Members of student unions are expected to actively participate in meetings, discussions and projects, while upholding the union's values. This involves engaging in campus activities, voicing concerns, and collaborating with peers to enhance the student experience.

How can you join a student union?

It is up to each union to organise its membership recruitment and potential fees. For some unions, you can become a member for free, while others may require a fee for activities and operations. Check with your specific student union for details.
