Mared is a communications expert, event moderator and political commentator. She has five years of experience in EU public affairs and frequently reports from Brussels for the BBC. 

As a moderator Mared uses her breadth of information to challenge established ideas and spark insightful debates. Her goal is to put audiences at ease and to empower everyone to speak their minds. 

Mared is passionate about inspiring young people from all backgrounds to contribute to policy debates. She speaks native Welsh and English, is fluent in Spanish and French, and speaks basic Portuguese and Italian.

Sophia Eriksson Waterschoot is Director for Youth, Education and Erasmus+ at the European Commission's Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture.

She is in charge of European cooperation on higher education, schools and youth policy, managing Europe's flagship programme for education, training, youth and sport Erasmus+ with a budget over €26 billion 2021-2027.

She launched and manages the European Solidarity Corps,an EU youth volunteering programme, and coordinated the 2022 European Year of Youth. She launched flagship actions under the European Education Area and the EU Youth Strategy, such as European Universities, Teacher Academies and DiscoverEU.

She has previously held various positions within the European Commission in the field of strategy and investment in education, employment policy, European Semester, European cohesion funds, cultural policy and business statistics.

She studied economics, business, political science and EU affairs in Sweden, France and Belgium, including an Erasmus student exchange.

Biography

Florian Nuxoll is an educator and research professional from Tübingen, Germany. Since 2008, he has been serving as a teacher (English and Political Sciene) at the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Tübingen. Parallel to his teaching, Florian is a part-time Scientific Associate at the Department of Linguistics at the University of Tübingen, with a focus on Computational Linguistics and the development of intelligent tutoring systems. He is also an active member of the Intelligent Computer-Assisted Language Learning (ICALL) research group.

Florian's contributions to academia and pedagogy span the publication of school textbooks for German ESL classrooms and creation of workbooks like "Medienwelten" that promote media and digital competence. As a research author, Florian has explored the impact of digital tools on language learning and instruction.

Florian also hosts the podcast "Doppelstunde", which explores various aspects of education and digitalisation. His latest publication, "ChatGPT: Create a catchy headline: How chatbots and AI tools are impacting the English language classroom", demonstrates his interest in the intersection of AI and language education.
