Why I did my PhD in Belgium
I embarked on a 6-year academic journey in Belgium, doing a PhD in Engineering, focusing on Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Statistics. I chose Belgium specifically because of what this project offered and for the opportunities to visit other countries for academic reasons.
My European study experience has been marked by significant professional and personal development. I embraced Belgium's multicultural environment, forming connections with diverse cultures.
Making the right choice
When choosing study destination, my advice is to prioritise wellbeing, climate preferences, and social interactions.
In Belgium and other European countries, students under 26 enjoy special discounts which enhances their study experience.
My advice for prospective PhD students is to seek research institutes with projects that receive international funding. This will allow you financial stability.
Funds for research in Europe
For me, the best aspect of studying in Europe was the availability of funds for research, which contributed to my academic success.
In Europe, PHD students that work for funded programmes receive monthly wages, just like a regular job.
My advice for prospective PhD students is to seek research institutes with projects that receive international funding. This will allow you financial stability.
Accommodation in Europe
My accommodation in Europe was initially supported by my research institute, offering a smooth transition until I found my place.
