Hub Hub Hooray: celebrating 3 years of the European Digital Education Hub
Over the past three years, the Hub has grown into a vibrant community of nearly 7000 members, united by shared enthusiasm and commitment to shaping the future of Europe’s digital education. Find out what we’ve achieved together and what awaits us next!
The European community of practice for digital education
The European Digital Education Hub is an online community where Europe's digital education enthusiasts connect, collaborate, and shape the future of learning.
The community's mission is to bridge the gaps in current digital education policy, research, and implementation practices at a European level through:
- sharing inspiring practices,
- encouraging peer learning,
- collaborating across education and training sectors.
Activities and achievements
Webinars
The Hub's webinars are monthly online events designed to build knowledge.
Since 2022, The Hub has organised over 70 webinars and online workshops that gathered participants from across the education sector.
The events addressed the most current topics in digital education, such as:
- artificial intelligence (AI)
- technology risks and harms
- new techniques and opportunities in the field
- enhancing digital skills across educational institutions
Don’t miss out on the next webinar and stay tuned in the 'Knowledge Building' channel (Teams link).
Workshops and working groups
The Hub regularly brings together dedicated professionals to explore key topics in digital education through online working groups. Over a period of five to six months, approximately 25 participants collaborate closely to co-create high-quality outputs, such as practical guidelines, research insights and toolkits.
Some of our most notable working group achievements include:
- A European maturity model for micro-credentials in higher education. Whitepapers and guidelines for a strategy workshop
- Digital skills playbook for educators
- AI Report by the EDEH squad on AI in education
The Hub also organises in-person workshops linked to the working group activities. These events take place across Europe, with at least one held in Brussels each year. In 2024, workshops were held in Paris, Stockholm and Brussels. In 2025, we will be heading to Dublin and Warsaw!
Higher education interoperability working group
Since 2023, the Hub is hosting the higher education interoperability working group, which aims to overcome fragmentation in digital education.
The group gathers almost 250 experts from 34 countries and 45 European university alliances.
In June 2025, the expert group succeeded in publishing the first European higher education interoperability framework.

The reading corner currently hosts more than 150 papers, inspiring practices and articles, with new material coming every week!
Innovation within the Hub
As we continue to strive for innovation and improvement within our community, the Hub conducts peer-learning surveys, inviting members to reflect on the key benefits they have gained from being part of the Hub. The Hub has also set up an Innovation Funnel — a tool through which Hub members can share ideas for future community activities.
