Since the European Commission published them in 2022, the guidelines on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have empowered educators to engage with AI systems in a positive, critical, and ethical way.

So far, the guidelines have been downloaded over 29 000 times. They are available in all EU languages and recently have also been translated in Albanian, Bosnian, Macedonian, Montenegrin and Serbian.

Have your say

To mark the two years since their publication, we want to gather feedback and plan the next steps.

If you are an educator, we want to know your views and insights about using AI and data in your practice.

About the guidelines on the use of AI

The guidelines are designed to help teachers understand the ethical implications of AI in education. They provide educators with practical strategies to implement AI responsibly while ensuring students' rights, privacy, and data are protected.

Some of the questions the guidelines address include:

  • What are the common misconceptions about AI, and key requirements for trustworthy AI?
  • How can educators ensure that AI systems are used ethically and effectively in teaching and learning while protecting students ' privacy and data?
  • How do we ensure fairness and avoid biases in educational tools driven by AI?

The guidelines are part of the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan.
