A new self-reflection online tool to support teachers to further develop their digital competence is launching on World Teachers’ Day. SELFIE for TEACHERS has been designed by the European Commission working with experts from across Europe.
The tool gives primary and secondary teachers an opportunity to reflect on how they are using digital tools and technologies, get feedback and tips on next steps and plan for further training and support.
The European launch event is taking place on 5 October 2021 in cooperation with the Slovenian Presidency of the European Union.
The event brings together teachers who have tested the tool and students who will share their views on how they see technology as part of their learning experience.

European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel and Slovenian Minister for Education, Science and Sport, Simona Kustec will officially launch the tool at a hybrid event taking place in Ljubljana, Slovenia and streamed online.
Commissioner Gabriel said that the launch of the new tool could support teachers with their on going journey with digital technologies
“Like all professions, technology is changing the work of education. Our goal is to empower teachers to make informed choices on how, where and when they use technology in their particular context. The self-reflection and results from the tool can support teachers to be actively engaged in their professional development and to work with fellow teachers within and beyond the school with digital upskilling”.
