This year, the Hackathon Days will take place under the theme “Imagining the digital education of the future”. By taking part in the different challenges, participants will be able to find digital solutions to current and pressing education challenges, and to be part of the future of digital education.

Since the 2024 edition of DigiEduHack kicked off, 8 organisations have registered to host challenges (or hackathons) in-person, online or in a blended format.

Why should you host?

Read below what the benefits are according to your type of organisation.

Schools

  • Promote digital skills among students, parents, and other staff members.
  • Boost your students’ creativity and innovation, teach them important values such as teamwork and collaboration, and give them more confidence to express their voice.
  • Reflect on the educational needs and through exploring new educational technologies and digital tools, find solutions to these challenges that can benefit the whole school community.

Fondazione per la Scuola were hosts during the 2023 edition of DigiEduHack. Their team developed a solution for the "Schools as an Agent of Change Towards Sustainability” challenge and became one of the 4 Global Winners.

Public sector

  • Hosting a hackathon can bring together educators, students, policymakers, or technology experts, each contributing with a wide range of backgrounds, ideas and opinions.
  • These different actors will consequently lead to diverse challenges related to digital literacy, online safety, or equity in education.
  • Fostering collaboration within the education ecosystem can contribute to innovation in the education technology (EdTech) sector, and address accessibility to educational opportunities.

In 2021, the Dortmund City Council hosted a hackathon to create solutions for the challenge of using digital technologies to enhance the learning processes of lower secondary school students of the city.

Private organisations such as start-ups or industry leaders

  • Meet different stakeholders or new talent in the fields of education, technology, design, or entrepreneurship, who can be a great added value to your organisation, project, or service.
  • Connect with potential partners, investors and customers.

In 2023, Bonolab hosted and developed a solution for the challenge E-waste – Enabling Transformational Learning Through Digitalisation
